Professional Development
Teaching Artists come to POP with a variety of backgrounds and teaching and performing experiences. All POP TAs start the year off with 25 hours of orientation, which typically includes sessions on classroom management, lesson planning and trauma-informed approach. Throughout the year, teachers are observed and given-feedback in formal and informal settings and have the opportunity to work with master pedagogues who can help refine teaching technique and instrument-specific pedagogy. At their core, POP Teaching Artists are life-long learners.
