Internships at POP

Opportunities to work directly with students and learn from seasoned Teaching Artists in a supportive environment

POP Interns are an integral part of ensuring programming runs smoothly and students are learning, thriving, and having fun!

Summer Internships

Ideal candidates are Undergraduate students who:

  • Are interested in music education and working directly with students in grades K-12 
  • Play an orchestral instrument proficiently and/or has knowledge of choral singing or piano accompaniment  
  • Show interest in auxiliary arts programing, building authentic relationships with students, working closely with experienced Teaching Artists, and supporting the overall success of the POP Summer Program 
  • Possess interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, curiosity for learning new things and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed

 

Time Commitment (Summer 2025)

Summer Program runs Mondays through Fridays from 8:00am – 5:30pm. Interns work 8 hours each day, either in the morning or afternoon shift.

You will be expected on site during the following dates:

  • Orientation: a combination of virtual and in-person sessions during the week of July 14, 2025** We anticipate working a full day, in person at Temple on Saturday, July 19th in order to prepare for a smooth opening that Monday.
  • Summer Session: July 21, 2025 – August 8, 2025
  • Summer Wrap-Up: August 11, 2025

Interns may also participate in professional development opportunities, such as Lunch and Learns and formal end of summer feedback sessions.

 

Compensation

$1,600 stipend for the summer session

School Year Internships

Ideal Candidates are Undergraduate students who:

  • Possess interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, curiosity for learning new things and a willingness to “pitch in” wherever needed

Time Commitment  

You will be placed at one of our sites in West Philadelphia, depending on the needs of our program and your availability.

  • Fall session of POP programming: 11 weeks, September through December (no program during the week of Thanksgiving)
  • Winter and Spring sessions: 10 weeks, January through mid-March, late March through May (no program during POP’s Spring Break)
  • Typical schedule will be weekdays from either 7:30am – 9:15am or 2:30pm – 5:15pm.

Compensation 

$11/hour
