School Year Internships

As a paid school year intern, you are a KEY piece of the puzzle to ensure our Program runs smoothly, students are safe, learning, thriving and having fun.
Interns spend most of their time at POP working directly with students and teaching artists in a classroom. POP also relies on our interns to support administrative functions, such as taking attendance and monitoring hallways.
Perfect for:
- Undergraduate students interested in music education and working directly with students in grades K-8
- Plays an orchestral instrument proficiently and/or has knowledge of choral singing or piano accompaniment
- Shows interest in auxiliary arts programing, building authentic relationships with students, working closely with experienced Teaching Artists, and supporting the overall success of the POP Program
- Possesses interpersonal skills, impeccable attention to detail, curiosity for learning new things and a willingness to “pitch in” wherever needed
Time Commitment:
You will be placed at 1 of 3 sites in West Philly, depending on the needs of our Program and your own schedule.
- Fall session of POP programming: 11 weeks, September – December (no program during the week of November 20th)
- Usually this will be weekdays from 7:30-9:15 AM and/or 2:30-5:15pm.

- Independence Charter School West
- St. Francis De Sales
- St. Rose of Lima
All Interns are expected to work all times specified in their contract.
Salary:
Stipend dependent upon schedule and scope of work.

Employment Term (Summer 2024):
Work Commitment: July 2024
Estimated schedule for Summer Program: Mondays – Fridays from 8:00am – 5:30pm
Interns will work for 8 hours each day, either morning or afternoon shift. Exact times to be determined.
You will be expected on site during the following dates:
– Internship Orientation: July 1-3, 2024 (approximately 6hrs/day)
– Summer Sessions: July 8-26, 2024
– Summer Wrap-Up: July 29-30, 2024
Each intern will be expected to work during two special events which will extend past their typical working hours – exact dates and times TBD.
