DESCRIPTION:Join Astral Artists\, Play On Philly\, and BalletX for a Young At Art concert on Saturday\, March 11th at 2 PM at the Teatro Esperanza\, hosted by the Esperanza Arts Center. The focus of Young At Art is experiencing the arts through fresh eyes\, seeing new connections through artists of different genres\, ages and levels of experience creating together. Launched in 2021\, Young At Art began as a series of virtual mentoring visits and concerts where Astral Artists and Play On Philly musicians explored music and visual art in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia. Now in its third year\, Young At Art will explore the interconnection of music and dance through Astral Artists rising professional musicians\, Play On Philly young musicians\, and BalletX emerging dancers in their Dance Fellowship and Dance eXchange Dream Team. Young At Art will culminate in a collaborative performance celebrating dance music of Latin America and Latinx composers. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, but reservations are required. DESCRIPTION:Click here to watch the POP Virtual Jubilee! \nJoin us in this time of reflection\, appreciation\, and celebration for our free POP Virtual Jubilee on Friday\, May 29th. The concert will include performances and messages of inspiration and hope by POP students\, Astral Artist’s Tommy Mesa\, and a virtual orchestra performance of an excerpt from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 by our Teaching Artists. This is a free event\, but for security reasons\, registration is required. We hope that you will join us and invite your friends and family to help us celebrate the talents and resilience of our students\, their families\, and our POP family!

SUMMARY:Play On Philly Strings Festival
DESCRIPTION:Play On Philly is proud to host its first ever Strings Festival! Along with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and the Curtis Institute of Music\, we are happy to invite all intermediate to advanced students from across Philadelphia to this daylong workshop and concert. During the workshop\, students will work with the Ritz Chamber Players in instrument specific groups (Double Bass\, Cello\, Viola and Violin) on technique\, then in large ensembles to prepare for the final concert. Before the performance\, students will have the opportunity to join a discussion with the Ritz Players as they share their experiences as professional musicians. \nThe agenda is: \n\n9:00am – Registration\n9:30 – Instrument Warm-Ups\n10:30 – Break\n10:45 – Technique Class\n12:00 – Lunch\n1:00pm – Large Ensemble Rehearsals\n3:15 – Break\n3:30 – Open discussion with Ritz musicians\n4:15 – Concert\n5:00 – Dismissal\n\n  \nWith a $25 registration fee\, students will receive lunch\, a snack\, an event t-shirt\, and access to the event itself. We ask that students dress in dark pants (to go with your t-shirt!). The concert is free and open to families. This event is for intermediate and advanced players only\, students must have access to an instrument to participate. Upon registration\, sheet music will be emailed to you directly. The deadline for registration is Friday\, January 31st\, 2020. \nIf you are already a member of POP\, please contact your Site Coordinator for more information. \nRegistration for this event is now closed. \n
