As part of POP Professional Development Week, our Teaching Artists participated in a conducting masterclass with Paul Bryan, Dean of Faculty and Students at Curtis Institute of Music. To open the session, Paul and our Teaching Artists practiced conducting skills: posture, stance, prep beats, patterns, dynamics and articulation. All of our large ensemble conductors were mentored side by side on the podium with Mr. Bryan. This is just a sampling of what we do at POP to develop our teachers' skills to enhance our students' learning experience. Incoming Freire String Orchestra conductor Danielle Garrett had this to say, "Anytime you get to work with someone of Paul's stature it is an invaluable experience....learning all of the little subletites, etc., His critiques were very positive and extremely helpful."
