On Sunday, July 27, 2104, POP had the incredible experience of collaborating with the Drexel ExCITe Center, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Boy's Latin Preparatory High School on a remix of Leonard Bernstein's "Mambo" from West Side Story. The high school students worked with Dr. Ellen Fishman-Johnson of SCH to make a remix of "Mambo," which was played in concert by the POP Symphony Orchestra at World Cafe Live as part of the Philadelphia Science Festival. A mobile phone ad was developed by the high school students to run during the concert. It caused the phones to flash different colors when different sounds were played. Dr. Youngmoo Kim and students from the Drexel ExCITe Center helped out with the phone app.
Collaborations like this are a very important part of what makes Play On, Philly! so unique. Click here to view a video of the performance.
